Caroline Bovey and Julian Mash have been appointed to Bloomsbury as UK sales head of non-fiction and UK sales head of special interest titles, respectively.
Helen Ward, who has been at Bloomsbury for six years, also moves to UK head of cookery and illustrated non-fiction as the publisher further expands its adult non-fiction sales team in line with the publishing house’s overall growth plans. Earlier this week Bloomsbury announced its best ever financial performance, with sales up 15% to £264.1m and profit up 16% to £31.1m.
Formerly head of non-fiction and cookery for consumer and special interest titles, Ward will hand over her broader non-fiction responsibilities to Bovey and Mash in order to focus on further growth in Bloomsbury’s cookery and illustrated non-fiction areas.
Bovey, who joins in June, will report into UK adult sales director Sarah Knight and Mash, who joins in July, will report in to UK special interest sales director Zorana Rzanicanin.
Mash joins from Unbound where he has been head of sales for the past five years, leading the sales operation and with involvement across all aspects of the business. He is credited with taking the widest of portfolios to market including debut fiction, non-fiction, gift books, guidebooks, ground-breaking anthologies, manifestos, cookbooks and memoirs.
Brigid Nelson, UK group sales director, commented: “We are delighted to have Caroline and Julian join the Bloomsbury sales team with their combined experience and expertise as our expansion plans progress. Helen Ward has done an exceptional job in the past 18 months in shaping our non-fiction retail portfolio in preparation for this new phase and I couldn’t be happier that our non-fiction senior sales team is now complete.”
Bovey said: “It’s an incredible opportunity to be included in Bloomsbury’s plans for future growth and I’m a long-time fan of their publishing, so to have the chance to influence and drive the sales strategy for their incredible non-fiction list is really exciting.”
Mash added: “I am delighted to be joining Bloomsbury, I have long admired its publishing and the chance to work alongside such a talented team is very exciting. I look forward to driving sales across its wide-ranging special interest list and being part of the continued growth and success.”
