Natalie Bradley has been promoted to the role of Hamlyn editorial director, effective from 1st October, ahead of a relaunch for the Octopus imprint in 2023.
Bradley was previously senior commissioning editor acquiring for the Aster and Gaia imprints and in her new role will report to publisher Stephanie Jackson, publisher of Aster, Gaia, Godsfield and Hamlyn.
As editorial director she will spearhead the relaunch of Hamlyn in 2023, “both elevating the core food and drink list that Hamlyn is best known for and extending the reach of the imprint into new areas that speak to Hamlyn’s broad commercial audience”.
Bradley began her publishing career supporting the sales team at Quadrille before moving to Octopus as an editorial assistant in 2014.
From there she joined Hodder & Stoughton where she worked on the Yellow Kite and Hodder Lifestyle lists with bestselling brands and authors from the Two Chubby Cubs to Gordon Ramsay, before returning to Octopus as a commissioning editor in 2019.
Bradley is responsible for a range of titles including the Slimming Foodie publishing programme, with two Sunday Times bestsellers to date and a third title in production for 2023.
Bradley said: “From category killers to breakout bestsellers, Hamlyn has a rich history of publishing smart, commercial books for everyday living. I am thrilled to be stepping up to the role of editorial director at such an exciting time for the list."
Jackson added: “Hamlyn is one of those rare imprints that has made a real impact on the lives of millions of readers via information, inspiration and instruction – and with exciting plans in place for its renewal, I couldn’t be more pleased that Natalie Bradley will be shaping its list, securing its publishing and leading it into the future with brilliance and brio.”
Bradley’s appointment follows the news Eleanor Maxfield, current publishing director, will be leaving the role at the end of this year to join Quarto.
