Brick Lane Bookshop has launched a podcast, with guests including Wendy Erskine, Jarred McGinnis, Niamh Mulvey, Huma Qureshi and Ben Pester.
The show was created to “celebrate and interrogate” the short story form, and sits alongside the bookshop’s annual short story prize.
Each episode features a writer reading an excerpt from one of their stories and talking about their work. They also discuss the writing and editing processes, routes to publication and which books or writers they always return to. The next guest is Vanessa Onwuemezi.
It is hosted by Kate Ellis and Peter J Coles. Ellis is a writer and ex-Brick Lane bookseller who created and runs the Brick Lane Bookshop Short Story Prize. Her fiction has been published in the Open Pen Anthology, The Mechanics’ Institute Review, and the London Short Story Prize Anthology. She is working on her debut short story collection.
Coles is the managing editor at MIROnline.org, a home for short stories, online and in print. His fiction has been shortlisted in the Wasafiri Prize.
Episodes of the BLB Podcast can be found here or via Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Pocket Casts.
