"Bridgerton" stars Nicola Coughlan and Adjoa Andoh will narrate the audiobook of regency history Meet the Georgians: Epic Tales from Britain’s Wildest Century (William Collins) by Rob Peal.
Coughlan plays Penelope Featherington and Andoh plays Lady Danbury in the hit Netflix series. They will be joined by "Hamilton" and "Harlots" star Ash Hunter, BAFTA winner Daniel Rigby, newcomer Taz Munya, and former "Blackadder" star Gabrielle Glaister to narrate Peal’s "animated take on the naughtiest, most outrageous period of English history". Peal will narrate his introduction and conclusion. The book will be published in hardback, e-book and audio on the 8th July.
The publisher said the work introduces the Georgian era "through the diverse lives of 12 people who defined it", from Lord Byron, the poet who drank wine from a monk’s skull, to Anne Bonny and Mary Read, pirate queens of the Caribbean.
Jessica Barnfield, senior audio editor at William Collins, said: “When I read Rob’s manuscript, I was immediately struck by the diversity of voices and stories all jostling to be heard. Meet the Georgians offers a totally fresh and engaging insight into an ever-popular part of British history and connecting the narration to voices we know from shows set in this era - such as 'Bridgerton' and 'Harlots' - really makes the audio come to life. Each chapter is an absolute treat for the listener but hearing Nicola Coughlan narrate the story of one of the only noted female pirates, Anne Bonny, is a personal favourite!”
