Canongate is to publish The Art of Rest, a "stirring" study into rest by author Claudia Hammond.
Editorial director Simon Thorogood acquired world rights from Will Francis at Janklow & Nesbit for The Art of Rest, the latest title by award-winning author Claudia Hammond. It is due to be published in January 2020.
The title has already been pre-empted in Japan, China and Holland.
Drawing on her "ground-breaking" research in The Rest Test – a survey which was completed by 18,000 people across 135 different countries – The Art of Rest is Hammond’s "stirring" study of rest in the modern age.
Hammond said: "Busyness has become a badge of honour. We want to say we're busy, yet at the same time we feel exhausted. Instead we should start taking rest seriously and this book can help us to work out how."
Thorogood, meanwhile, said the book is "timely, intelligent and engaging", and "will change the way we all feel about the importance and practice of rest."
Hammond is the author of three books, including most recently Mind Over Money: the psychology of money and how to use it better, published in May 2016 by Canongate.
