A "bold and creative" marketing campaign for the 2023 Capital Crime Festival is featuring a branded cab and ‘Book Fairies’ hiding titles in secret spots across London.
The campaign has kicked off to promote this year’s festival which will take place at the Leonardo Royal Hotel by St Paul’s Cathedral from 31st August to 2nd September 2023.
Organisers said: “With less than a month to go until London’s greatest celebration of crime writing opens its doors to the public, Capital Crime embarked this week on a bold and creative marketing campaign targeting crime-loving readers across the city.
“The Book Fairies will be venturing through the city over the weekend, hiding a selection of the latest books from authors appearing at the festival, as well as bookmarks with special discount codes, for lucky Londoners to find.
"The festival has also launched its very own branded cab, which will drive around London throughout August, as Capital Crime races towards launch day. The cab will be host to a very special Instagram Live later this month, when viewers will get a flavour of what’s in store at this year’s festival.”
Richard Armitage, Peter James, Richard Osman, Yomi Adegoke, Joanne Harris, Imran Mahmood, Liz Nugent and Nicola Williams are among those appearing at the festival, with over 100 authors taking part in over 30 events at this year’s event.
The festival’s director Lizzie Curle said: “It’s incredible to see the festival come to life and to have London be the heart and centre of the marketing campaign as we’re so proud to call it home. We hope that our individual event tickets and discounted ticket offers will make our festival accessible to all readers and crime fans.
"Myself and the whole team are looking forward to welcoming the authors, readers and fans who make Capital Crime so special to our new venue – it’s a joy to be able to celebrate the crime and thriller genre in style and have fun while doing so.”
The festival is organised by London-based independent bookshop Goldsboro Books and first launched in 2018.
