Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency's Catherine Cho has left the company to start her own agency, Paper Literary.
At the new agency, Cho will be looking to discover debut talent in adult fiction and non-fiction, with a focus on stories that resonate in the US and UK.
She previously worked in law and public affairs before starting her publishing career at Folio Literary Management in New York. After moving to London, she worked at Curtis Brown as assistant to Jonny Geller and was promoted to associate agent.
At Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency, where she worked for a year, she discovered and sold major deals in the US and UK for debut authors such as Nikki May and Soon Wiley, sold multiple non-fiction projects and expanded the agency’s digital list.
Cho is also the author of Inferno: A Memoir of Motherhood and Madness, which was published by Bloomsbury Circus and shortlisted for the Sunday Times Young Writers Award and the Jhalak Prize.
She said: “I am very excited to launch Paper Literary. I chose the name Paper to reflect a commitment to storytelling and to give a nod to the possibility of the blank page. I want to approach publishing from first principle - with a focus on an individualised strategy for authors and to combine editorial guidance with a business mindset."
