Catriona MacLeod Stevenson is joining the Publishers Association as general counsel.
MacLeod Stevenson has more than 13 years’ experience in advising copyright and brand owners on wide-ranging legal issues. She joins the Publishers Association from the legal team at the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, the trade association that represents the global recorded music industry.
She also has over 10 years’ private practice experience from the top-ranked IP department of law firm Bristows LLP, where she gained experience in landmark IP litigation cases and spent time on secondment to major clients including Sony Interactive Entertainment and Diageo.
MacLeod Stevenson said: "I am delighted to join the team at the Publishers Association. This is a critical time for rights-holders in the creative industries. From Brexit to international trade, digital exhaustion to online marketplaces and an ever-evolving global digital piracy threat, I look forward to working closely with publishers to anticipate and respond to their needs and contribute to the continued growth of the publishing industry in the UK and beyond."
Stephen Lotinga, c.e.o. at the Publishers Association, said: "We are thrilled to have Catriona join us. She is a brilliant lawyer and has a wealth of experience working with IP-rich industries which will make her a real asset to the Publishers Association and our members. We look forward to her joining the team in the near future."
She will take up the role of general counsel in late February 2020.
