Charco Press has hired 404 Ink publisher Laura Jones-Rivera in the role of operations manager on a freelance basis.
Jones-Rivera is assisting Charco Press with the production and distribution of their list on a freelance part-time basis. She will continue to act as publisher for 404 Ink and providing freelance production services.
Samuel McDowell, director of Charco Press, said: "Laura consistently demonstrates herself to be a shining light within the UK publishing industry. The success and recognition achieved by 404 Ink showcases this, alongside her many and varied freelance engagements. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have such a talented and innovative addition to our team."
Jones-Rivera said: "Charco has been one of my favourite publishers and typesetting clients since 2017 so it’s an honour to be of more assistance and part of another fantastic Edinburgh-based independent. Working with Charco is going to be a huge opportunity for me to stretch my logistical muscles in less familiar territories and I am so thankful to them for the trust and the opportunity."
Charco Press, based in Edinburgh and founded in 2017, specialises in bringing Latin American translations to English-speaking readers. It has had several books nominated for the International Booker and is Scotland’s reigning Publisher of the Year in Scotland’s National Book Awards.
