The Children's Bookshow charity has announced it will be returning to theatres across the country this autumn with a series of 15 live events featuring authors, poets and illustrators, including Michael Rosen and Val Bloom.
The tour kicks off with charity patron Rosen in London and bestselling author Kwame Alexander in Newcastle. The tour promises an "impressive array of children’s literature greats from home and abroad" including German J√∂rg Mühle in Ipswich, Kate Greenaway Medal 2021 winner Sydney Smith in Exeter, Catherine Rayner in Hull, and poets Val Bloom and Rachel Rooney in Wolverhampton and Merseyside respectively.
This year, each child attending a performance will also be given a book by the artist performing to take home and keep. Places for schools are still available at some events and can be booked online, where the full schedule is also available, until 16th July.
Illustrator Sir Quentin Blake said: "Through its annual theatre tour The Children’s Bookshow brings to thousands of young people across the country some of the world’s best children’s books. It gives them the opportunity of excitement and discovery which may even inspire in them a love of words and images that will last a lifetime."
