Chris Rushby, book buyer for the Jarrold retail business, will be retiring from the company in 2019.
Rushby joined the long-established East Anglian company in 2012, and is in charge of its bookselling operation.
Before his time at Jarrold, Rushby was at wholesaler Bertrams for eight years, where his roles included commercial director of the library business, buying director and then sales and marketing director. He previously worked at Waterstones, Blackwell and W H Smith.
Rushby said he was retiring early from his post to move back north to his native Yorkshire to be close to family and friends.
He said: "Having worked in the book trade for more than 33 years it will seem strange no longer to be part of this wondrous, fascinating, frustrating and culturally vital industry. The last six of those years have been with Jarrolds. I've hugely enjoyed the privilege of buying books for this unique, splendid and forward-thinking retailer – and of working with some brilliant colleagues, authors and publishers too, of course."
Jarrold is currently recruiting a replacement.
