Claire Handscombe has been appointed marketing executive at Gallic Books, bringing with her expertise on marketing books in both the British and the American markets.
Having worked as a bookseller and social media coordinator at East City Bookshop in Washington, DC, she also writes for Book Riot, hosts the "Brit Lit" podcast and has worked at Libro.fm.
Handscombe will work across the Gallic list in partnership with freelance publicists, as well as running her own campaigns. In addition to lead titles in the 2023 list, including An Astronomer in Love by Antoine Laurain and She’s a Killer by Kirsten McDougall, Handscombe will also work on backlist titles. September 2023 also marks the 15th anniversary of Muriel Barbery’s The Elegance of the Hedgehog, which will be the subject of a large-scale campaign to bring this title to a new generation of readers.
Joe Harper, Gallic m.d., said: “We are very pleased that Claire will be joining us, and bringing with her a wealth of experience from both sides of the Atlantic. This will be a big year for Gallic, with great titles and huge historical successes to celebrate.”
Handscombe said: “The Gallic list is excellent and innovative and I am excited to help these books find their readers."
