Alexander Cochran has been promoted from translation rights agent to primary agent at C&W with immediate effect.
He will be focused on building his list of clients, which include Arthur C Clarke Award-winner Tade Thompson, BSFA award-winner Gareth L Powell, "Black Sails" actor-turned-author Luke Arnold, Ryan O’Connor, whose debut literary novel The Voids is a lead fiction title for Scribe in early 2022, and speculative thriller writer Nick Binge, whose novel Ascension recently sold in 10 territories, including HarperVoyager in the UK and Riverhead in the US, pegged to a major film deal.
Cochran started out as an assistant at Peters Fraser & Dunlop, before taking on a literary scout assistant position at Daniela Schlingmann. He joined C&W in 2011 as a literary assistant and worked his way up, becoming first a junior literary agent then rights agent.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunities C&W have given me, and I’m thrilled to be taking the next steps in my career with them," he said. "I’m really excited to be able to expand my list of clients, while continuing to work with my fantastic list of authors at C&W."
Sophie Lambert, director at C&W, added: "Nurturing our staff as well as our authors is an integral part of C&W and we couldn’t be happier that Alexander is now concentrating on building his list of clients full time with us and we know that he will continue to discover and guide brilliant new and important authors for years to come.
"The breadth of authors Alexander champions is hugely impressive and we are excited to discover what the next years will bring."
