Suzanne Connelly has been promoted to commissioning editor of Ebury’s Smart Nonfiction Hub and Amanda Waters has been appointed editor, joining from fellow PRH division Vintage.
The appointments follow the hub’s recruitment of Geraldine Collard as commissioning editor for the division’s business and performance imprint Ebury Edge, as well as Robyn Drury’s promotion to editorial director earlier this year.
Drummond Moir, deputy divisional publisher and head of the Smart Non-Fiction Hub, said: “As our publishing goes from strength to strength – our hub growing, our authors continuing to win prizes, and our books having more and more impact in the world – we’re excited to see this reflected in the growth of our thriving editorial team.
“Since joining just six months ago Geraldine has already doubled Ebury Edge’s title count for 2023 through a series of astute and ambitious acquisitions, including Claer Barrett’s timely new book What They Don’t Teach You About Money. She is the smartest business book editor in town and is already more than building on Ebury’s stellar roster of business authors.”
Robyn Drury, editorial director, said Connelly has already acquired some “excellent” books for Ebury, including the Baillie Gifford-shortlisted Aftermath by Harald Jähner and Rule Nostalgia by Hannah Rose Woods.
“She combines a great eye for talent with an editorial diligence that produces the very best narrative non-fiction. Her authors and colleagues alike love working with Suzanne, and it’s very exciting to see her step up to commissioning editor,” Drury said.
Jamie Joseph, editorial director and head of W H Allen, added: “Amanda Waters brings a brilliant blend of editorial insight, author care and immaculate organisation to us from her time at Chatto, Bloomsbury and Sceptre. I have no doubt she’ll rapidly become essential to our future publishing.”
