The journals editorial team at Taylor & Francis is undertaking a consultation process on a new structure, the publisher has confirmed.
The Bookseller understands that 20-25 jobs were originally earmarked for redundancy out of a total of almost 60 staff put at risk. Describing the present situation, T&F has said that figure is inaccurate but declined to give more details.
Leon Heward-Mills, managing director at Researcher Services, commented: "Our journals editorial team is currently undertaking a consultation process. This is not to reduce jobs but is as a result of new role types within the department, including the introduction of an operational excellence team to build process improvement into the every day. There will be more people in the proposed new structure than we have colleagues today and it will provide our global teams with the tools to continue to develop our substantial and high-quality portfolio of journals as we look to build services for the 21st century researcher.
"This proposed new structure will give our editorial team members more time to work on journal development, so we can continue to deliver value to the highly-regarded learned society partners and research communities we work with.”
Asked for confirmation on potential redundancies, a spokesperson said: "As this is a consultation, we can provide no more definitive details at this stage."
