Cornerstone has created a TV advert featuring real readers to support the paperback publication of Katie Fforde’s novel A Wedding in the Country.
The television advert will run during publication day on 20th January and for several weeks afterwards. Spots will appear on ITV’s "Good Morning Britain" and "Lorraine", and ITV3 programmes. Video on demand advertising will also air on ITV Hub and All4.
Filmed in December on set in a real house, several fans of the author were given the chance to star in the advert. “Aiming to highlight the joy of real readers settling down with one of Katie’s novels, two fans filmed scenes, as did some of Katie’s own publishing team,” Cornerstone said. Reader Sarah Hills (pictured) was one of the fans who took part.
The advert forms part of ambitious plans for Fforde’s books in 2022, with a partnership also taking place with Mirabeau, a rosé wine brand, to support the hardback publication of A Wedding in Provence in February. Further brand partnerships have been planned for later in 2022.
Fforde said: “I was delighted to be able to give some of my readers the chance to take part in the filming of the advert. My books are written for them, and I’m thrilled to see for myself what reading means to them. The ‘make time for you’ message is so important, and reading is the perfect escapism. I can’t wait to see all the rest of the publishing activity that 2022 will bring for my books.”
