CrimeFest has launched two new prizes for debut crime novel and best TV crime drama for the 2020 awards.
In association with headline sponsor Specsavers, CrimeFest announced plans for the £1,000 Specsavers Debut Crime Novel Award.
For TV, 2020 sees a new category for Best TV Crime Drama, eligible for TV shows broadcast in 2019 in the UK based on a crime novel or true crime book, published anytime. This award aims to acknowledge both the author of the source material as well as those adapting it.
The 2020 CrimeFest Awards, which will be presented on 6th June 2020, during the convention at the Bristol Mercure Hotel, now feature a total of eight categories.
Organisers are encouraging publishers to submit nominations before Friday 29th November 2019.
CrimeFest co-host Adrian Muller said: “Specsavers are passionate about the crime genre thanks to its founder Dame Mary Perkins, and their support ensures new voices in the genre will be recognised. We have a really diverse awards’ agenda as the crime genre is a wide church. Categories recognise e-books and audiobooks, humour, as well as crime novels for children and young adults. We aim to be the most inclusive of awards to reflect the values of our convention.”
