West Wales independent education publisher Crown House Publishing gave away over 2,000 free books to teachers and schools in celebration of World Teachers’ Day on 5th October. The books given away were backlist titles that would otherwise have been pulped.
The education publisher charged only for the postage charge. They received 1,325 individual orders, with some teachers and schools buying multiple books to start their own Continuing Professional Development (CPD) libraries.
Marketing manager Amy Heighton said: “We wanted to show our support to teachers and schools who are really struggling right now. Of course, it’s also a plus environmentally that we can make sure we don’t destroy good, practical and usable books too. We were blown away by the response and our packing team have worked non-stop the past two weeks to get the books out to customers. It’s been great to see the response on social media from teachers.”
The books given away cover a wide range of teaching topics including pedagogy, exam prep, leadership and more.
