The audiobook of Colleen Hoover’s It Ends with Us, narrated by Olivia Song (Simon & Schuster), has seen a 712% increase in average daily listening in the UK since the film starring Blake Lively was released on 9th August, in comparison with the same period the previous month.
Moreover, searches for the audiobook have increased by 710% in the UK in that time, according to data that was shared with The Bookseller by the streaming platform.
“It’s great to see so many people who are intrigued by the conversation around the film release of ‘It Ends With Us’ being able to very easily check out the audiobook on Spotify, and dive even deeper into Colleen Hoover’s catalogue,” said Duncan Bruce, director of audiobooks partnership and licensing at Spotify UK and IE. “When cultural moments happen—whether music, podcast, or audiobooks—we see it reflected on Spotify, and ‘It Ends With Us’ is another great example of this.”
Interest in Hoover’s full catalogue has also grown on the platform, with average daily listens to the “This Is Colleen Hoover” official audiobook playlist up 570% globally.
Hoover was also featured in the top three positions of the Official UK Top 50, with the original mass-market paperback of It Ends with Us (Simon & Schuster UK) at number one, selling nearly 25,000 units through Nielsen BookScan’s Total Consumer Market (TCM). Meanwhile, It Starts with Us (Simon & Schuster UK) came in second place, with 15,143 units sold, followed by the "It Ends with Us" film tie-in edition (Simon & Schuster UK), which sold 14,310 copies.
