Danai Denga will move from Ebury to become editor at #Merky Books and Cornerstone Press on 2nd April 2024, reporting to Helen Conford, publisher for Hutchinson Heinemann, Cornerstone Press and #Merky Books and working closely with Lemara Lindsay-Prince, senior commissioning editor.
Having started on The Scheme at Penguin 2019, Danai has worked at Transworld as editorial assistant before joining Ebury as assistant editor in autumn 2022. While at Ebury Self, Danai acquired a Harvard-trained peak performance expert whose book is a breakout title for Ebury in 2025, and was part of the team behind Ramadan Reflections by Aliyah Umm Raiyaan, Outlive by Peter Attia, Deepak Chopra, It’s Not You by Dr Ramani Durvasula and the Korean bestseller If You Live to One Hundred, You Might as Well Be Happy by Rhee Kun Hoo.
Denga said: “I have enjoyed working with so many talented authors at Ebury Self and I’m sad to leave such an amazing team. But I am also excited to join two ambitious and dynamic imprints at a time of growth for both Cornerstone Press and #Merky Books. I’ve watched both imprints from the sidelines, drawn to an array of their books from smart-thinking non-fiction to #Merky’s literary debuts and poetry. The chance to move into the arena and to champion exciting ideas while being a part of the community-focused heartbeat of #Merky is both humbling and thrilling. I’m looking forward to working with Helen and Lemara to continue growing the outreach and output of both lists.”
Conford added: “It really felt as though this job was made for Danai. With a strong market knowledge of smart thinking, personal development, lifestyle and parenting, which are key areas of Cornerstone Press’s publishing, an international focus in her work and a clear commitment to the authors and community spirit of #Merky Books, her ambitions and approach to these will lists will grow our publishing in new ways and I can’t wait for her to start.”
