Daniela Schlingmann Literary Scouting (DSLS) has expanded its team, taken on two new clients, and extended its scouting remit for several existing clients.
Sarah Moore, formerly of Alfred A Knopf, has joined as associate scout on the adult scouting team, while Lauren Morley-Fletcher, previously at Waterstones, has joined as associate scout on the children’s team. Sophie Clarke has been promoted to senior scout with responsibility for scouting the children’s market, SFF and some romance.
Clarke said: “Working as part of the fabulous team at DSLS and with our wonderful international clients is truly a dream job. I’m delighted to be stepping up to the position of senior scout and continuing to work across all of my favourite genres.”
Schlingmann said: “Sophie is warmly regarded and respected throughout the industry and is a key member of the team at DSLS and I’m looking forward to seeing her continue to flourish in her role. I’m so impressed by the energy and commitment of the team we now have in place. It’s a really exciting time for the agency, and I know we will be going into the coming months with our very best foot forward.”
As of this month, DSLS will scout the US and UK markets for Aschehoug in Norway. The independent, founded in 1872, is today one of the country’s leading publishers. DSLS will also begin scouting the US market for Editions Belfond, part of the Editis Group in France.
Founded in 1963, Belfond publishes a portfolio of fiction and narrative non-fiction with a strong focus on international authors. DSLS already scouts for Editis imprints Pocket, 10/18, PKJ and audio imprint Lizzie. Overall, Daniela Schlingmann Literary Scouting scouts for more than 50 international publishers and imprints in over 15 countries, as well as for several TV and film production companies.
DSLS has also extended its scouting service to include the US market for existing clients DeAgostini and Utet (non-fiction) in Italy and People’s in Denmark.
Schlingmann said: “2023 is shaping up to be an extremely busy year for the agency so it felt the right moment to grow the team to ensure we can best serve our expanding roster of clients."
