Daunt Books is set to open a second branch outside London, in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, this summer.
The shop won’t take the Daunt Books name but will be called The Marlow Bookshop and is set to open in around 10 weeks time.
It will return an independent bookshop to Marlow after the last one closed in 2007.
Based on 22-26 Spittal Street, the venue is 1,750 sq ft and will recruit between five-six local members of staff to work in it.
This will bring the totally number of Daunt Books shops to nine.
Daunt Books’ Rose Cole, who has worked at the company for 12 years, will be overseeing the shop’s opening process. She said: “Marlow is a vibrant and beautiful town which lost its independent bookshop in 2007. We very much look forward to restoring independent bookselling to the town, and to do so in such an attractive and large shop.”
Daunt Books, founded and owned by current Waterstones m.d James Daunt, opened its first branch outside London in Saffron Walden, Essex, earlier this year.
It was founded in Marylebone High Street in 1990.
