David Fickling Books sales director Phil Earle has been promoted to the role of sales and brand development director.
Earle has been with the publisher since it became fully independent in 2013, playing an instrumental role in ensuring its success and growth and launching best-selling series such as Jamie Smart’s Bunny Vs Monkey. He starts in his new role immediately.
He said: “It is a real honour to have been part of DFB since going independent, and it remains a unique and deeply exciting place to work. I’m excited to build on the work we’ve already done, and to prove that small can indeed be mighty.”
Liz Cross, publishing and managing director at DFB, praised Earle as “an extraordinary salesperson, whose deep knowledge of the market and creative, collaborative relationships with customers are second to none,” adding that he has played a key part in the publisher’s growth over the past year.
“Working with Phil is a joy, and with this addition to his role I know he will help drive exciting times ahead for DFB,” she said.
David Fickling added: “It is difficult to exaggerate just how important and what good company Phil has been to all of us at DFB since we started, not to mention the life-saving quality of his sense of humour and clear sightedness in challenging moments.”
The promotion comes hot on the heels of Fraser Hutchinson’s departure from Creative Access to join DFB in the newly created role of publicity and marketing director in January.
