The dedicated university press conference, University Press Redux, first held in March this year, is to return as a biennial event.
UCL Press will curate and host the next University Press Redux conference in 2018, with administrative and promotional support from Association of Learned Professional and Society Publishers (ALPSP). Cambridge University Press will host the 2020 event.
The development follows the success of the inaugural University Press Redux conference, held by Liverpool University Press (LUP) in association with the Academic Book of the Future project earlier this year, attracting 150 delegates.
Anthony Cond, LUP director, said: "There was such strong support for the conference that we immediately saw the potential to continue the conversation." Lara Speicher, publishing manager at UCL Press, said her press had been "inspired" by what LUP had achieved at the event this year.
ALPSP chief executive Audrey McCulloch added: "The university press sector has undergone a transformation and revialisation worldwide. Many of our members were involved in the redux conference and it was an obvious next step to offer administrative support."
