Louisa Harland, best known for her TV and theatre work in "Derry Girls", will narrate the audiobook edition of Roisin O’Donnell’s debut novel Nesting.
The book is set for publication across audio, hardback and e-book on 16th January 2025 in Ireland and 30th January in the UK, publishing under Simon & Schuster’s Scribner UK imprint.
"On a bright spring afternoon in Dublin, Ciara Fay makes a split-second decision that will change everything," the book’s synopsis says. "Grabbing an armful of clothes from the washing line, Ciara straps her two young daughters into her car and drives away. Head spinning, all she knows for certain is that home is no longer safe."
The synopsis adds: "This was meant to be an escape. But with dwindling savings, no job, and her family across the sea, Ciara finds herself adrift, facing a broken housing system and the voice of her own demons."
Harland said: "I’m so pleased to be narrating the audiobook of Nesting. Ciara’s story, and her fight for a home for herself and her children, is devastatingly powerful and unfortunately all too common. The novel is beautifully done, with moments of pure joy amongst the darkness."
O’Donnell, who formerly won the prize for Short Story of the Year award at the An Post Irish Book Awards, added: "Louisa Harland is one of the most talented Irish actors at work today, and I am so thrilled that she is narrating the audiobook of Nesting. From speaking to her, I was so impressed by her detailed reading of the novel and her intuitive understanding of the characters."
