David Fickling Books’ m.d. Simon Mason will join Pushkin Children’s Books leading a new venture next month.
Writer and editor Simon Mason will be joining the company from 1st February to head up a new Pushkin Children’s Books publishing project, more details of which will be revealed in due course.
Mason has worked part-time at David Fickling Books (DFB) as its m.d. since it went independent six years ago. Prior to that he worked in academic publishing and also for Thames & Hudson. He has pursued a parallel career as a novelist, firstly for an adult audience and more recently for younger readers with his third Garvie Smith crime novel for YA will be published by DFB later in the year.
Mason said: “I’ve had six terrific years at DFB and have hugely enjoyed the opportunity to work with so many gifted colleagues and extraordinary authors; I remain DFB's grateful author. But I’m now looking forward with tremendous excitement to working with Adam and his team at Pushkin on a new venture, and can’t wait to get started.”
Pushkin publisher and m.d. Adam Freudenheim said: “I’ve long admired Simon as both a writer and editor, and I’m very excited that he’ll be bringing his huge range of experience to Pushkin Children’s. We can’t wait for him to get started next month and help us continue to grow our children’s publishing programme.”
