Dialogue has appointed Millie Seaward as head of publicity for the new division while Emily Moran has been appointed as head of marketing.
The appointments follow news that Dialogue will become a standalone division of Hachette UK on 1st January 2023.
Moran and Seaward join Dialogue from their current roles in the Little, Brown marketing and publicity departments respectively. Moran was a Bookseller Rising Star this year and has won three Books Marketing Society awards in the space of 12 months for her campaign work on Slug (Fleet) by Hollie McNish, Love Marriage (Virago) by Monica Ali and the Haunting Season anthology. She was also a finalist, as part of the Dialogue team, for The Drum’s award for Best Social Media Diversity and Inclusivity.
Seaward, a Bookseller Rising Star in 2020, has been instrumental in many of Dialogue’s successes to date, including her work on The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett and Rainbow Milk by Paul Mendez. Both campaigns were recognised at the Publishers Publicity Circle awards. Seaward has also worked on campaigns for The Great British Bake Off (Sphere), Robert Gold’s Twelve Secrets (Sphere) and Lee Lawrence’s Costa-winner The Louder I Will Sing (Sphere).
Little, Brown will be recruiting for replacements for both roles.
Dialogue managing director Sharmaine Lovegrove said: “The work Millie and Emily have done for Dialogue Books over the years has been nothing short of exceptional and I am delighted they have jumped through all the hoops with flying colours to earn their roles as head of publicity and head of marketing for the Dialogue division. As they step up to create and lead new communications departments I am inspired by their purposeful drive to connect our authors to audiences and their approach to inclusion and innovation and I can’t wait for their vast creativity, perceptive leadership and deep knowledge to propel Dialogue to great success.”
Seaward said: “Having been with Dialogue Books since its first publication in 2018, I’m honoured to be taking the next step with Dialogue Books as a division. Working with Sharmaine Lovegrove, Emily Moran and Amy Baxter in our time at Little, Brown has been hugely inspiring and I can’t wait to see what we can do next.”
Moran added: “After three wonderful years working across the list at Little, Brown I am thrilled to accept the head of marketing position at Dialogue in its new life as a division. I am delighted to continue working alongside Millie and Amy and so grateful to Sharmaine for such an exciting and unique opportunity, one that will allow us to devote ever more energy, passion and creativity to authors and stories that never fail to spark the conversation.”
