Ali Mercer’s His Secret Family climbed two places to swipe the Bookstat E-Book number one for the first time, for the week ending 22nd February. Ben Aaronovitch’s False Value, already having a sterling week in hardback format, was also the highest new entry in the Bookstat chart.
Milly Johnson’s The Little Dreams of Lara Cliffe also entered the chart in sixth place, with Terry Pratchett’s eighth Discworld novel, Guards! Guards!—originally published in August 1989—débuting in the top 10, after a brief period priced at 99p.
Joffe Books has officially joined the Publisher E-Book Ranking rota—and scored a blinder straight out of the gate. For the chart covering the week ending 15th February, Faith Martin’s Hillary’s Back!—the follow-up, rather misleadingly, to Hillary’s Final Case—thundered into the number one spot, with Joy Ellis’ Hidden on the Fens swiping third. Only Agatha Christie’s The Pale Horse, buffeted by its BBC Sunday night adaptation, broke up the Joffe party, claiming second place.
Far from romance dominating in the week of Valentine’s Day, e-book buyers were in a darker mood, with Marian Keyes’ Grown-Ups the sole non-crime title in the Publisher E-Book Ranking top 10.
Clarification: Hachette has stated its volume sales for His Secret Family were 14,173 units, with 9,847 digital copies of False Value sold
