DK has acquired the first book by Anthony Daniels, who played droid C-3PO in the Star Wars films, including the upcoming "Star Wars Episode IX".
Publishing director Simon Beecroft acquired world rights in all languages directly from Daniels, who will reveal more details, including the title and book jacket, at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago tomorrow (Saturday 13th April).
Daniels said: “The odds of me ever writing a book were approximately... Oh, never mind. My golden companion worries about such things – I don’t. I have indeed now written a book – telling my story, in my voice, not his – recognising that our voices and our stories are inextricably intertwined.”
Beecroft added: “As one of the original fans of Star Wars in 1977, I couldn’t be more excited about this book. Anthony has played one of the most famous droids in cinematic history for over 40 years, and, surprisingly, his story has never been told.”
Publication is set for 31st October in the UK and 5th November in the US.
