DK is to publish the debut book by 19-year-old "horticultural sensation" Huw Richards in March 2019.
The gardening title will be aimed squarely at the younger audience of his YouTube channel HuwsNursery, and his Facebook page.
Publisher Mary-Clare Jerram said: “As soon as I met Huw, I knew he was the author we need to inspire the new generation of gardeners. Huw’s YouTube channel shows his followers how, in a lovely corner of rural Wales, he grows his own food organically, abundantly, easily and inexpensively. His first book will demonstrate how this can be done in a very small space right through the year, even in an urban garden.”
Richards has been described by the Guardian as "the future of gardening", tipped as "the next Alan Titchmarsh" by the Times, and has recently appeared on BBC 1’s "The One Show". He started his YouTube channel HuwsNursery aged just 12 years old and now has 83,000 subscribers, as well as 85,800 Facebook followers, with his largest audience being 25-34 year olds.
Richards said: “I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity by DK! I really believe that this book will bring so much information and inspiration to people wanting to grow their own food, especially for the younger generation who often get missed out.”
Jerram acquired world rights from Laura Macdougall at United Agents.
