DK has struck a deal for The Finch Bakery Book by Lauren and Rachel Finch.
World rights were acquired by senior acquisitions editor Stephanie Milner directly from the authors. The Finch Bakery Book: Sweet and Simple Homemade Treats and Showstopper Celebration Cakes will be published on 5th August 2021.
Lauren and Rachel Finch are twin sisters and founders of Finch Bakery, a small cake shop in the north-west of England, making bespoke cake creations for sale in store and online. Starting as a university hobby and baking out of their parents' kitchen, they opened Finch Bakery’s doors in Great Harwood in April 2016, and have gone from strength to strength ever since, amassing more than 130,000 loyal fans on Instagram and 78,000 on Facebook. During lockdown their home delivery service became the place to order sweet treats from online and they now sell out of thousands and thousands of brownie trays, cupcakes, “cakeaways” and cake jars every day within minutes of release.
The publisher explained: “This, their first cookbook, is an unashamed celebration of sugar. Whether you want to make a lighter-than-air birthday cake, dense and gooey brownies, the ultimate chewy cookies or hot chocolate bombs, The Finch Bakery Book is filled with 75 foolproof recipes for cupcakes, scones, cookies, cake balls, cake jars, tray bakes, no-bake cakes and celebration cakes."
The authors said: “We are excited to be launching our first recipe book, something we have enjoyed writing so much. We have developed easy to follow recipes, from brownies and cookies to elaborate celebration cake techniques, written in simple, achievable steps — even revealing some of our secrets! Starting out being self taught from our parents' kitchen over five years ago, to owning our own cake shop and running our online business has been a dream for us. We’ve written this for all the people who have followed our bakery antics and real life since day one, those who have joined us along the way, and those who might find us and be inspired to start their own baking journey.”
Milner added: “During the spring of 2020, I started to hear murmurs about an online bakery that was selling out of “the best brownies” every day. When I looked Finch Bakery up I was amazed by how engaged their 100k+ followers were, which is all down to Lauren and Rachel’s honest and entertaining approach to their business as well as their legendary bakes.
