Natalie Doherty will join HarperCollins Children’s Books (HCCB) as fiction publishing director, reporting to fiction publisher Nick Lake.
She succeeds Michelle Misra who joined Simon & Schuster Children’s Books as children’s fiction editorial director earlier this month.
Doherty began her editing career at Random House, before becoming a long-standing member of the PRH Children’s team, editing and launching a list of authors and debut launches. She will join HarperCollins on the 15th May 2023.
Doherty said: “After several very happy years at Penguin Random House, I’m delighted to be joining HarperCollins at this exciting time for the business. I’m thrilled to be working with Nick and the fantastic HCCB team to build the already-stellar fiction list, nurture and launch the very best voices in children’s books and deliver ambitious growth plans.”
Lake added: “I am thrilled to be welcoming Natalie to the team at HarperCollins Children’s Books. Loved by authors and agents alike, she is a stand-out star of children’s fiction, and I have long admired her brilliant publishing – she brings both a wealth of experience with major authors, and a proven track record of breaking debuts. We have such exciting plans for growth in fiction, and Natalie will be central to achieving them, with a vision for quality commercial books that is a perfect fit for the HCCB list.”
