Doubleday has announced a raft of promotions on the fiction team, with Jane Lawson promoted to publishing director and Bobby Mostyn-Owen stepping up to editorial director.
Lawson has published books such as Lessons in Chemistry (Penguin), The Book Thief (Black Swan) and Brick Lane (Black Swan). With books such as The Travelling Cat Chronicles (Doubleday) and What You Are Looking for Is in the Library (Penguin), Lawson has also been at the vanguard of the current boom in Japanese and Korean fiction. Mostyn-Owen is the editor of Polari Prize-winning Bellies (Doubleday), Piglet (Transworld) and Pageboy (Doubleday).
Moreover, Georgie Bewes has been promoted to assistant editor, after boosting Doubleday’s social media presence and overseeing reissues of Jan Carson’s Children’s Children (Penguin) and Like Water for Chocolate (Black Swan).

Doubleday Fiction publisher Kirsty Dunseath said: "Over the past five years we have more than doubled our net sales and contribution, with significant investment in our pipeline of new authors, an increased but sustainable title count, significant growth in rights income, and an increased presence on prize lists and promotions. Importantly, we’ve also driven wonderfully creative, energetic campaigns for our ‘literary brand’ authors, which has increased sales on both frontlist and backlist titles. Rose Green joined us a year ago to help bring new energy and focus to our publishing of Terry Pratchett’s incredible list, as well as commissioning outstanding literary titles with an international reach.
"I am immensely proud of the energy and creative dynamism of the team. We aim to publish for the broad church of literary fiction – from contemporary prize-winners to book club favourites with perennial appeal – and the combined tastes of the team means there is a richness to our publishing that matches the diverse nature of the market."
