Independent press Duckworth Books is celebrating 125 years by re-releasing six of its backlist titles.
The publisher – which was founded in 1898 –counts literary heavyweights including D H Lawrence, Hilaire Belloc, Evelyn Waugh and Anthony Powell (who also worked for the house) among its heritage authors. In more recent years, it has published writers including Julia Child, Yu Hua, Ruth Pavey and Ray Kurzweil.
To mark its 125 year anniversary, Duckworth will release special editions of six backlist titles, with new covers created by the acclaimed book designer Anna Morrison. The titles are: John Spurling’s The Ten Thousand Things, Betty May’s Tiger Woman, Anil Ananthaswamy’s Through Two Doors at Once, Anu Partanen’s The Nordic Theory of Everything, Hua Yu’s China in Ten Words and Darryl W Bullock’s David Bowie Made Me Gay.
In addition to book trade promotions, Duckworth will also host a drinks party at the October Gallery on Wednesday 22nd March 2023.
