Communications agency Midas has announced it is expanding its offering to include marketing with the appointment of Stephen Dumughn as marketing director.
Dumughn was previously marketing director at Bonnier Books UK, where he oversaw marketing across all adult divisions. In his new role, he will work alongside Midas’ senior leadership team, including c.e.o. Jason Bartholomew and deputy managing directors Georgina Moore and Amelia Knight, to expand the agency’s existing offering of PR and digital communications, to include marketing services.
Midas says the expanded offering aims to provide “a full, one-stop shop service to prospective and existing clients, including creative ideation, brand-building, and consumer and trade campaign planning and execution".
At Bonnier, Dumughn spearheaded the launch of the company’s digital direct-to-consumer strategy, including the Readers Club author programme and numerous genre platforms, while also leading the marketing strategy behind authors including Stacey Halls, Heather Morris, Rory Clements, Christy Lefteri and Robert Peston, and helping drive the acquisitions of brand fiction authors such as Wilbur Smith and Lynda LaPlante. He previously held marketing positions at Little, Brown, Penguin Random House, Pan Macmillan and Orion.
Bartholomew said: “We’re excited to be launching Midas’ marketing offering with Stephen joining the team. Following the successful growth of our digital division, we’re seeing increasing demand from clients for strategic marketing support, and I couldn’t be happier that Stephen will be taking the lead on delivering this for Midas and our clients.
"Stephen has exceptional marketing experience, and his numerous award-winning campaigns speak for themselves. I’m looking forward to working with him as we embark on this new chapter for Midas.”
Dumughn commented: “Something exciting is taking shape at Midas, and I’m very happy to come onboard at this crucial stage in their growth. It’s been a fascinating few months since I left Bonnier and I’ve enjoyed working with publishers on a freelance basis, but I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to be part of the vibrant and creative Midas team. They’re renowned across the industry for their exemplary PR campaigns and author care, and I’m looking forward to building on that expertise to deliver best-in-class marketing on behalf of their clients.”
