Journalist Liz Connor has been appointed as the first commissioning editor to work across Vermilion and Rider as part of Ebury’s fast-growing Self Hub.
Connor, appointed senior commissioning editor, will focus on UK talent across all areas of wellbeing, including mental health, spirituality, fitness, diet, nutrition and millennial self-care.
As well as writing and editing features for international magazines, newspapers and brands, across areas including nutrition, fitness, beauty, spirituality and wellness, Connor was instrumental in launching the Evening Standard’s popular Lifestyle section. She was most recently health and wellbeing editor at the Press Association.
Vermilion publishing director Susanna Abbott said: “We wanted to find someone from outside the publishing industry who could bring fresh insight into how we can engage a wide range of readers. Liz is the perfect addition to our team, coming to us with huge passion for our areas of publishing and audiences, and a wealth of experience analysing data and digital communities to identify new talent and trends. It helps that she is no stranger to our books: indeed, she has interviewed many of our authors, including Wim Hof and Ethan Cross.”
Connor said: “I am delighted to be joining Ebury, specifically the Vermilion and Rider imprints which are home to some of my favourite gurus like Glennon Doyle and Wim Hof. They are actively publishing dynamic voices across a wealth of untapped wellbeing topics, and are creative, energetic and forward-thinking powerhouses. I am particularly excited about the team’s enthusiasm to commission platform-led UK talent, which is an area that I’ll be focusing on for Rider and Vermilion over the coming months, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to bring some of my expertise in journalism to a new challenge.”
