Ebury & Penguin Random House have paid tribute to fashion icon and author Iris Apfel, who has died aged 102.
Apfel described herself as a "geriatric starlet" and was known for her distinctive cropped white hair, oversized glasses, bright lipstick and chunky beads.
Her final book, titled Colourful, will publish in August 2024.
Laura Higginson, her editor at Ebury Press, said: “It was a magical time working with Iris to make this final work. She had the most beautiful outlook on life, and about the importance of always being open to ideas. The cover design is inspired by her first creative memory: playing with scraps of cloth at her grandparent’s house, pairing them together to collage pleasing colour combinations. From the turquoise ribbon marker with yellow print, to the magenta sprayed page edges, this book is Iris in all her technicolour glory.”
