Ebury Press has acquired The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse by British artist Charlie Mackesy for Christmas 2019.
Laura Higginson, editorial director at Ebury Press bought world all language rights directly from Charlie Mackesy.
The book is a poignant reminder of the things in life that truly matter, as told through the adventures of four beloved friends, said the publisher.
Created by artist Mackesy, the book is based on his daily Instagram, which has more than 100,000 followers. One of his drawings ‘help’ has been shared more than one million times.
Higginson said: “Everyone who has had the fortune of finding their way to Charlie’s Instagram cannot help but be touched by his carefully considered words of hope. We adore his work and are really honoured to help him create this book – so that more people can have Charlie’s creations in print form and share the story of these four very special friends.”
Mackesy, who has been a cartoonist for The Spectator and a book illustrator for Oxford University Press, added: “My hope is that the book goes some way to helping people live more courageously, more honestly and with more love for themselves and others.”
