Lizzy Gray has been promoted to deputy publisher at Ebury, joining the executive team at Penguin Random House’s specialist non-fiction publisher.
In her new role Gray will work alongside fellow Ebury deputy publisher Drummond Moir to lead on collaborative projects, mentoring and new initiatives across the division.
She will continue to lead Ebury’s food publishing, and oversee wellbeing and non-fiction imprint Happy Place Books, launched in partnership with Fearne Cotton.
Since joining Ebury in 2013 and becoming publishing director in 2016, the publisher says Gray has transformed the then-illustrated list into a broader lifestyle offer, working on titles as part of the Lifestyle Hub such as The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse, Jane’s Patisserie and Stacey Solomon’s Tap to Tidy, as well as Bigger Than Us and Burn After Writing.
Gray has personally driven Yotam Ottolenghi’s global growth, with Simple hitting more than two million copies sold in all languages according to the publisher.
Ebury m.d. Joel Rickett said: “Lizzy is an exemplary publisher. A fearless acquirer, she lives and breathes what she publishes, has an unerring eye for design and positioning, and is a magnet for the most exciting new talent. She has nurtured a thriving, super creative team – with countless editors flourishing, snapping up platform stars and being first to market with emerging trends.”
Gray commented: “I am thrilled to be stepping up my role at Ebury working with a wonderful team and an enviable list of cherished authors. Joel Rickett and our divisional Publisher Andrew Goodfellow have grown a collaborative, creative and self-starting culture which is a joy to be part of. I look forward to working with everyone to realise our new strategic ambitions."
