Books and culture PR agency ed public relations has launched a series of free online "salons" to demystify the role publicists play within the industry.
Sessions will give insight into ed’s campaigns, the everyday role of a book publicist as well as advice on routes into the publishing industry.
The first event will run on 18th January at 6.30 p.m., via Zoom. The sessions will run every three months.
Emma Draude, managing director of ed public relations, said: “Having come from a working-class, non-publishing background with no contacts in the industry, I was shocked to be told that it wasn’t worth thinking about publishing as a career without an ‘in’. I was lucky to find a route via a fantastic post-grad publishing diploma offered at West Herts College. That diploma no longer exists and, although great strides have been made to increase inclusivity generally, more can be done. I wouldn’t have known about publicity without that course, so our salons will help shine a light on the role of PR and the fantastic opportunities it offers.
""Our multi-award-winning team has a wealth of experience to share and we’re looking forward to welcoming people from all communities, and hopefully encouraging them to join an industry we love.”
