Books and culture agency ed Public Relations has announced a raft of new appointments and promotions as it expands its team.
Annabelle Wright is promoted to the new role of head of publicity with immediate effect. She has been with the company for five years and works across a range of clients including the British Book Awards winner Knights Of, the Yoto Carnegie Greenaway Awards and brand authors Dorothy Koomson, Elle McNicoll and Milly Johnson. She has been shortlisted for multiple Publisher’s Publicity Circle (PPC) Awards and was shortlisted, alongside managing director Emma Draude, for a British Book Awards Campaign of the Year in 2021 for work on Caleb Femi’s Poor (Penguin).
She said: “I’m thrilled to be stepping up to the role of head of publicity at ed PR. I feel very lucky to be part of this brilliant, hard-working team and grateful to Emma for the recognition of my contribution over the past five years. It’s amazing to think about what we have achieved in that time and the wonderful authors and publishers I’ve been fortunate enough to work with. I’m really looking forward to what the future holds!”
Rebecca Mortimer joins the team as account executive, having previously worked at Manchester University Press. She will work across fiction and non-fiction clients but with a focus on supporting the agency’s expansion in the north.
Sabina Maharjan joins the agency as senior account manager and will focus on expanding the children’s book PR division. She previously worked at David Fickling Books and Macmillan Children’s Books. She was PPC shortlisted for her work on books by Sir Lenny Henry and David Olusoga and is also a mentor for Arts Emergency, a charity which helps young people flourish in the arts and culture sector.
Emma Draude, managing director, said: “Ed PR is 12 this year, and it’s been a joy to reflect on the amazing campaigns and clients we’ve worked with during that time. The company is going from strength to strength; all driven by the passion and hard work of our incredible team, and our belief in the inclusive power of storytelling for all. Annabelle has played an integral part in that success, working on many of our award-winning campaigns. It’s a pleasure to promote her and I can’t wait to see how she helps shape the ed PR of the future.
“I’m also delighted to welcome Rebecca Mortimer from Manchester University Press. Rebecca will spearhead our publishing projects in the north working across fiction, non-fiction and awards and will work from Manchester. And last, but by no means least, it’s wonderful to be working with Sabina Maharjan once again. Sabina and I first met at David Fickling Books and I’ve long been impressed by her passion for children’s storytelling. Sabina joins us with a remit to further grow our children’s book PR roster across both fiction and non-fiction.”
