Hachette Ireland has expanded its team, with Elaine Egan moving from her position at Orion into the newly-created role of group PR and communications manager at the firm.
Egan, currently senior publicity manager at Orion, will take on the new position in mid-March. She will oversee publicity for titles across Hachette Books Ireland and Hachette UK Publishers: Hodder, Headline, John Murray Press, Quercus, Little Brown, Orion, Octopus and Hachette Children’s. She will report to Hachette Ireland group m.d. Breda Purdue.
Egan was promoted to senior publicity manager in August, two years after joining Orion. She has specialised in publicity for the imprint's commercial fiction and non-fiction lists and has worked with authors such as Cathy Kelly, Erica James, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Cara Delevingne and Liz Earle. She recently won a Publishers Publicity Circle award for her campaign on Lucy Vine's debut novel, Hot Mess.
Egan said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Hachette Ireland. I’ve worked closely with my Irish colleagues throughout my career at Hachette UK and I’m excited to have the opportunity to work on the fantastic titles we publish across both groups."
She added: "The Irish market is continuing to grow in strength and I look forward to helping to build on the success of Hachette Ireland in my new role.”
Purdue said: “We have worked closely with Elaine over the years and we are delighted that she is returning home to Ireland bringing with her such a wealth of publicity experience. Elaine already knows most of our key authors and has an established relationship with the Irish media so we are excited to welcome her to Hachette Ireland and look forward to lots of great publicity for our books going forward.”
In November, HarperCollins announced plans to double its team in Ireland as part of its “commitment to the thriving Irish book market”.
