Egmont is to publish a three-book middle-grade children’s series by Aisha Bushby, author of A Pocket of Stars.
Fiction senior editor Sarah Levison acquired world English rights from Claire Wilson at Rogers, Coleridge & White. The first book in the series, Voyage of the Lost and Found, is to be published on 6th August 2020. The second will follow in June 2021 and the third in 2022.
Voyage of the Lost and Found will be illustrated by Rachael Dean.
The Moonchild series is inspired by tales of The Arabian Nights and tells the stories of a group of children and their jinn—magical animal companions—as they seek to discover mysterious secrets that will bind them together.
The books will combine mythology and fiction to take the reader through a vividly imagined Middle East.
Bushby said: “I remember declaring at 12 that I would write a fantasy series, and I'm thrilled to be able to do this as my next project with Egmont! Rachael's illustrations are stunning—the characters jump off the page. I can't wait to share The Sahar Peninsula with readers.”
Levison added: “Aisha’s writing totally takes your breath away—it has huge amounts of heart, soul, emotion and imagination, and she creates characters and worlds that are vivid and unique. Readers are in for a treat as they embark on these wonder-filled adventures!”
