Miya Elkerton will join Simon & Schuster in January 2024 as its first digital manager. Elkerton has experience working on campaigns in the children’s and YA space, as well as on industry initiatives such as the TikTok Book Awards and the Romance Creator House. She is currently at marketing communications agency Rocket.
Elkerton will work alongside marketing and PR director Sarah Macmillan, steering digital strategy as Simon & Schuster Children’s Books sets ambitious growth targets, develops brands and communities and maximises current publishing. Her key areas of focus will be boosting digital capabilities to grow online communities, working with authors and illustrators to enhance their digital footprint and ensuring investment is directed at channels and interactions that will yield optimal results and sales.
Macmillan said of the appointment: “I’m thrilled to be welcoming Miya to the team in this exciting new role. Miya brings a great wealth of experience and as a specialist in youth marketing she truly understands the digital-first landscape. She will add another layer of expertise to the team as we set ambitious campaign and brand plans for 2024 and beyond.”
