Elliot & Thompson (E&T) has revealed "extensive" marketing and publicity plans for its spring super-lead, The Future of Geography: How Power and Politics in Space will Change our World, the third instalment in the Tim Marshall trilogy.
Publishing in hardback, e-book and audio on 27th April 2023, the book follows Prisoners of Geography and The Power of Geography, this time exploring the geopolitics of space.
To support the book’s publication, E&T has planned a Waterstones special edition alongside a pre-order competition in partnership with the Royal Observatory. The winner and their guest will receive tickets to a publication date event at the Peter Harrison Planetarium and exclusive star-gazing experience with a Royal Observatory astronomer.
In addition to this, 5,000 signed copies will be made available to Waterstones, Blackwells and independent bookshops on publication, alongside bookmarks and window kits (including recyclable window clings, table talkers and posters). All of this will be supported by e-book promotions, marketing partnerships and social media advertising.
The publisher is also preparing to send out its largest proof mailing in history, to booksellers, YouTubers, BookTokkers and Instagram influencers.
The campaign – which will involve a series of print and broadcast appearances to develop Marshall’s profile – will be complemented by a nationwide tour of events.
