Academic press Emerald Publishing has announced its inaugural read and publish partnerships with library consortia in North America.
The global publisher has signed subscription and open access agreements with SCELC (Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium) and PALCI (Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration and Innovation).
Marking Emerald’s first read and publish partnerships with library consortia in North America, the deals “reflect a growing commitment to meeting the needs of customers and researchers in the region following Emerald’s acquisition by New York-based Cambridge Information Group in 2022,” the press said.
The deals expand upon existing agreements with some institutions and make Emerald journals available to other institutions for the first time.
Gina McCue, Emerald’s vice president and director for the Americas, said: “By partnering with these key consortia, Emerald is expanding access to our journals and providing opportunity for authors to make their valuable research available at no cost to scholars and practitioners around the world.”
Terri Teleen, Emerald’s president for the Americas region, said: “For nearly 60 years, Emerald has been driven by a belief that social science research can – and should – change people’s lives. Building on our longstanding strengths in management and business, our publishing program now spans a wide range of applied social science.”
Emerald Publishing was founded by management scholars in 1967, and is now part of the US-based Cambridge Information Group, providing a range of publishing services for researchers. Its UK head office is based in Leeds.
