Emilia Clarke will narrate the audio version of The Instrumentalist, the debut novel from Harriet Constable, which will be published by Bloomsbury this summer.
The Emmy nominated actor and HBO "Games of Thrones" star will read the UK edition of the book, which will be released on August 15th 2024. Won by Bloomsbury in a seven-way auction in March 2023, the book is inspired by the life of Anna Maria della Pietà, the "orphan musical prodigy who became the star student of Antonio Vivaldi".
Senior editor Tom Skipp praised the actor’s "brilliance at bringing Anna Maria and the love of music that animates her world to life," adding: "It means such a lot to Harriet and everyone at Bloomsbury that Emilia has chosen to work on a book that is so important to all of us. Emilia’s portrayal is sensitive, gripping and utterly compelling—and brings Anna Maria’s world to vivid life."
Constable commented: "It is the most enormous privilege to have Emilia read the audiobook of The Instrumentalist. When I discovered Anna Maria and her orphan sisters, I knew they were remarkably special women, that their story must be told and that I must do everything in my power to do justice to their brilliance. But to have an actor as talented, kind, sensitive and intelligent as Emilia give voice to them, and to the world of 18th-century Venice, surpasses everything I might have hoped for. It feels like the most beautiful tribute to them all."
Most recently, the actor starred in Sophie Barthes’ "The Pod Generation", which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, as well as the Marvel series "Secret Invasion" and Jamie Lloyd’s adaptation of "The Seagull" in London’s West End.
