Emma Lowe is to join The Bookseller as head of publisher relations. Lowe is currently general manager at author services company Authoright. Prior to that she spent 13 years at London Book Fair, latterly as head of sales.
Bookseller Group publisher and chief executive Nigel Roby said the appointment recognised the importance that The Bookseller places on providing dynamic trade and consumer marketing channels for publishers. "Spending the last few weeks talking to publishers about the launch of the YA Book Prize really brought home to me the importance of The Bookseller's central position in the book trade," he said. "But it also showed that we have to be innovative in how we work with publishers. To do that needs focus and the change of emphasis that this role implies will bring us that focus."
Roby added: "When she was at London Book Fair, Emma worked on a parallel track to The Bookseller for many years. All of us who knew her in that role have nothing but admiration for the energy, intelligence and good humour she brought to it. We could not be more pleased that she is joining us. Equally, as The Bookseller starts to reflect the new-found status of independent and emerging writers, her Authoright experience will be invaluable."
Speaking about her appointment, Lowe said: "I am extremely grateful to Gareth, Hayley and the team at Authoright for such a brilliant insight into the world of self-publishing and giving me the chance to work on so many exciting books and events like the London Author Fair. I am very much looking forward to taking this knowledge forward to my next challenge with the brilliant team at The Bookseller."
Lowe will start with The Bookseller on 20th October and can be contacted on emma.lowe@thebookseller.com.
