Faber has announced the launch of a new American-based division and publishing team called Faber US.
The department will be overseen from Faber’s London offices by Mallory Ladd, director for Faber US and international sales, and Sara Talbot, sales director.
The new division will be “defined by a distinctive range of quality non-fiction, fiction, music, poetry, film and children’s books”, Faber said.
The publisher has appointed two full-time, US-based staff who lead on campaigns. Brittany Dennison, most recently at Artisan Books and previously a publicity director at New Directions, has joined as senior publicist. Travis Smith has joined as senior marketing manager. He was most recently at Algonquin Books and previously worked at independent bookshops for over 10 years.
Highlights for the list in 2025 include Eimear McBride’s fourth novel, The City Changes Its Face and a book on the meaning of art by the legendary musician Brian Eno and illustrator Bette A., entitled What Art Does, as well as the Collected Poems of Wendy Cope.
Other titles include Walter Murch, the triple Academy Award-winning editor and sound designer, discussing six decades of cinematic history in Suddenly Something Clicked and an abridged picture book edition of one of the all-time classics of Faber’s list: The Coming of the Iron Giant by Ted Hughes, illustrated by Mini Grey.
Books are sold by PGW, a major distributor for independent publishers in the US.
Mary Cannam, chief executive of Faber, said: “This marks an exciting moment for Faber. I am delighted that Brittany and Travis are joining us with their considerable energy and expertise to launch this new venture. Our new US division will enable us to reach an even wider audience for our writers’ work and I’m looking forward to seeing it develop.”
