Faber is producing "Black British Lives Matter", a podcast series with Sir Lenny Henry and Marcus Ryder, as part of the Acast Creator Network.
The 10-episode podcast will investigate what it means to be Black in Britain today, from exposing racism to celebrating Black British culture in every walk of life. Henry and Ryder sit down with prominent Black British figures and how society can make Black British lives matter.
Expanding on the themes tackled in their essay collection (Black British Lives Matter, 2021) each episode will include a guest discussing music, fatherhood, food, fashion, ability and disability, art, hair, reparations, comedians and mental health. The list of interviewees includes Beverley Knight, Adrian Lester, Afua Hirsch, Jazzie B, Dane Baptiste and David Harewood among others.
Ryder said: "I have loved recording the podcast. It’s enabled me to articulate all the internal conversations I was having in my head following the publication of the book, with some of the brightest minds out there from Afua Hirsch to Kehinde Andrews, and from David Harewood to Gina Yashere."
Henry added: "Marcus Ryder and myself sitting down with our peers and discussing this vast array of subject matter was a joy. The whole project felt like us taking a deep dive into the things we care about. And coming out the other end having learnt something and laughed a bit too. Conversations like this are important and need to keep happening — big up to all involved."
"Black British Lives Matter" will launch on 10th October and be distributed by Acast. Its launch sponsors include TikTok and Pret A Manger.
